The new Doppler site worked well today, showed me the rain coming our way and sure enough, it showed up right on schedule, unfortunately enough that it curtailed using any sort of power tools outside including my cordless screwdriver. However, even with the heavy rain at times, just the paper on the roof of the Fire Pit kept everything nice and dry, it was the only 12' x 12' piece of dry ground in the HITW. One fourth of the roof is now lap (not lop) sided, a time taking project since each board has to be cut at a 42 degree angle on each end and beveled at 45 degrees at the joints. Looks good, would have looked much better with a steeper pitched roof, but lesson learned. If the plans for a clan gathering materializes on August 11th and 12th, it should be finished with the exception of applying the stain! However, I have always maintained that a family that
"stains" together stays together. By the way, that is not a "link", it is the color of stain we are using!

I like your stain choice, very nice. But we have to wait to stain until we leave on the 13th, we don't want to camp without a fire and if we stain first we will have a HELL of a fire but no gazebo.
I just hope when the beer starts flowing the guys do not think the gazebo is a fancey wood pile!! And the last time this family stained together...we hated each other for a month!! The back porch...baycrest house...shane flicked paint on heidi...heid flicked back...missed shane hit shana...the fight was on...mom started screaming...dad started lecturing...and heidi disappeared to her room...shane and shana finished the porch, mad...heidi you always were the smarter one...hehe...oh ya...and dad had to go to town and buy another can of stain.
Father we wont stain until next week...the babies and I will be there...I will do it if you don't want too...better idear than the weekend when we are utilizing it.
Stain, the way you all build fires, I give the Gazebo 15 minutes. NO stain, asbestos, but no stain.
And Shana, the staining of the house high on the hill overlooking the campground was a bonding experience. My hands bonded tightly to the scaffolding .
