Dedication To "Ranger Wild Bill"

I was listening to "Sirius 50's" tonight, the DJ had a long lead in on the old television show of "The Lone Ranger", it brought back so many fond memories of Saturday television when I was just a lad. I was a faithful radio listener and then television viewer of the "Lone Ranger. The disc jockey after prattling for awhile, finally introduced this song sang by Jerry Landis. Now, I know you young'ens do not or perhaps never heard of Jerry Landis, perhaps you would know him by his "stage name", Mr. Paul Simon.

Dedicated To Ranger Bill,
Wherever he roams, over the next hill,
may his road miles
be kind and full of smiles.

"The Lone Teen Ranger"

"Play Me A Sad Song"

Play Me A Sad Song" was another of his songs as Jerry Landris, it became very popular when he did it a second time as "Simon and Garfunkel"

Would we make sure that Taylor has the opportunity to listen to the Lone Ranger, I am sure she will love it!

I grew up listening to Simon but it was as Simon and Garfunkle and as Paul Simon. I LOVE "Graceland", "Call Me Al" and "Diamonds On The Sole of Her Shoes". I also enjoy "Bridge Over troubled Waters" but who doesn't!

Although the TV series was aired 1949 - 1957, I watched the show with almost no miss as a kid.

Pop quiz :

Who was the actor that played John Reid/The Lone Ranger?

The DJ that did the introduction went through that, let me think!

Think I am going to rig up some speakers and pipe that into the HITW for this summer.

now you are truly dating yourself. I think my brother is only 10 years older than me....I don't recall those funny round things-are those records? The original cd's? Wow! Is that Simon from the Chipmonks-he does sound so different too.

Why did Lone Ranger keep sending poor Tonto into town to get his ass kicked?

I remember, Clayton Moore played "The Lone Ranger".
Now I a have a trivia question: Jay Silverheels played Tonto, what was the last movie that Silverheels was in? All of you have likely seen it.

The Lone Ranger (1938), The Lone Ranger Rides Again (1939), and Hi-Yo Silver (1940), the character was played by Billy Bletcher - with the exception of Robert Livingston ALSO playing the part in 1939. Billy, also, was the voice of the radio series.
Return of The Lone Ranger (1961), the character was played by Tex Hill. In the TV series (1966), he was played by Michael Rye.
the rest have credit to Clayton Moore.

Pertaining to Jay Silverheels (Tonto), I would have to say
A Different Drum, as Jim Swift Hands, 1974.
He was also in the TV series, Dusty's Trail (pechango berries) in 1974, with Bob Denver, Forrest Tucker, and Lori Saunders.
He passed away on March 5th, 1980, in LA.

Since the one respondent to the question, did such a great job, I will have to declare him the winner. However, he missed the last movie that Jay Silverheels was in. In this movie, the actor that played the lead won the Academy Award for Best Actor. The last movie Jay Silverheels played a role, John Wayne's ~ "True Grit"
