Lady Eagle spent some time a few days ago clad in her break up boots in an attempt to de-water the HITW. She was able to trench out a small ditch to vent some of the water. This evening, I decided to move in the heavy equipment to see if we could speed up the process. A few minutes with the only piece of heavy equipment that I own, I was able to open up a larger trench and gleefully watched as water started flowing in a westerly direction. The outflow was keeping up with the inflow so I am optimistic. Checked on it a few minutes ago and the projection is that the water was dropped 2 -3 inches, the picnic table is now dry! However, I am concerned since Middle Kroc Pond has filled to capacity and now flowing at will into Lower Kroc Pond. Lower Kroc Pond has now eclipsed the shoreline and freely flowing over the neighbors driveway enroute to the barrow ditch of the Old Sterling Highway. Hopefully, the Old Sterling Highway will not wash out.
Still have some snow berms to melt down but the worse is over, the Glacier Field is looking good, it is full of snow and would stay intact if it were not for Global Warming. Grannies Gully also still holds some snow with water flowing underneath as a result of the drainage from Moose Meadows. Snow is gone in front of all the dens and wallows. The main entry (Bronco Drive) has dried out nicely and as long as we do not get a lot of traffic it should be in good shape. The sand hill is dry and ready for the little ones!
With a little over two weeks before "opening weekend" the Anchor River is high and very dirty but the good folks from Fish and Fur are making an effort in getting the sonar counter installed before all of the salmon escape upstream un-counted. Papa Bear made a drive to the mouth of the river this afternoon, reports that the mouth has continued to move to the north about a half mile or so.
Devyn, the flower bed is now clear of all water and appears to be dry and ready to plant. I could not get in that far to check up close since the water line is at the rocks at the base of the bed. The screen is still in place protecting the seeds that you planted. As soon as I can I will get in and check them out to see if any buds are showing. Our flowers are just now starting to come up at the Eagle Nest.
Will keep you posted.

I thought your flowers were up a week ago?
The pit, I think, will be in good shape come MMDay weekend. The beach gravel and other hauled in material seems to allow the surface to dry up fast. I'm sure we could find a spot for you to get yer truk stuck again if there is any back-blading to do around the Buffalo wallow.
we wont tell anyone you might be draining a wetlands enviroment....
Good news, went down this morning to check on the "controlled flooding" of th4e Old Sterling Highway. Much to my surprise, the HITW was drained, the lake disappeared overnight. Still some standing water in the low areas, but the picnic table is dry. Still some melt down to go, but the worse is over for now due top the dreging operation.
I have discovered that with a digital camera you can take pictures and put them on the internet the same day...in mere minutes. It is easy...so um...........
